Campus Overview

The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) is a mid-sized public comprehensive university located in Ewing, offering a high-quality educational experience with a strong sense of community and academic rigor. With approximately 7,000 undergraduate students, TCNJ provides an intimate learning environment with the resources of a larger institution.

Location & Setting Situated in a suburban setting just outside Trenton, the campus offers a peaceful, self-contained environment with easy access to both Philadelphia and New York City. The campus is characterized by attractive, well-maintained buildings and green spaces, providing a traditional collegiate atmosphere.

Campus Life TCNJ features a close-knit campus community with robust student engagement. Most students live on campus, particularly in traditional and suite-style residence halls. While not known for a strong Greek life scene, the campus offers numerous clubs, activities, and opportunities for social interaction. Weekend activities include campus events, nearby city excursions, and student organization programming.

Student Body Predominantly drawn from New Jersey and the Northeast, TCNJ attracts academically motivated students with strong interests in STEM, education, and liberal arts. The student population is diverse, with a collaborative and intellectually curious culture. Students tend to be goal-oriented and academically focused.

Academics Known for academic excellence, TCNJ offers rigorous programs with a particular strength in education, engineering, and business. The college maintains small class sizes, emphasizing close faculty interaction and undergraduate research opportunities. The academic environment is challenging but supportive, with a focus on hands-on learning and practical skills.

Athletics & Sports Competing in NCAA Division III, TCNJ offers competitive athletics with a focus on student-athlete academic achievement. While not a major Division I sports powerhouse, the school has strong team spirit and competitive programs, particularly in sports like soccer, basketball, and track and field.

Lifestyle & Weather The campus experiences typical Northeast seasonal variations, with warm summers, colorful autumns, cold winters, and mild springs. While a car can be helpful, the campus is walkable and has good public transportation connections.
